I am painting some of my truck black. I had an idea about what to do to make it a little differnt. let me know if this would work.
-First I put on my black basecoat
-second I put on some metallic blue that's transparent
-clear coat
I have a 97 probe that I painted just the front end and it is "laser red", basically Candy Apple red. when I did it, I had to use a red, then a transparent red w/ the metallic in it, then the clear. the transparent middle coat stuff made the paint look real nice, as opposed to the solid red.
My ? is if I do that w/ the black, would I even be able to see the blue?,
That is the basic process for applying Metalflake paints. Shoot basecoat, mix colored flake in clear and shoot, shoot a ton of clear over that, then start wetsanding until your arms fall off.
I don't really know what a fine blue metallic would look like over black. You might try House of Kolor's website. They may have some online color chips you could get a look at.
