no acceleration

I have a 2002 cc 4x4 sb i was driving from az to ca and while i was driving my engine light came on i pressed the gas pedal and the truck wouldn't go. The light would turn off and it would go again. As long as the light was on the truck would not go. It would hold if the cruise control was on.

What mods are done to the truck? Sounds as if you were either at the rev limit if stock. Or if modded you are probably overboosting and the truck was defueling itself in order to save the turbo. Do you have gauges? what was your boost at?

PS where in az you from?

could be bad switches in the throttle pedal, or an intermittant connection in the wiring.

Question

I just have a 4' exhaust and a k&n filter. If it was the gas pedal why would the engine light come on.

I'll bet you are over boosting the motor so it is defueling. This will cause the SES light to come on and the truck to shut down until the over boost is down below 24lbs.

I don't think its over boosting cause when i push the gas it sits there like if it were at idle when the light is on

Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor. I think that what they mean by TPS. I would check your code first. I know quite a few that went bad and IT sounds like your symptom. Like I said check your code first. Overboost and tranny slip sounds retarted to me

In the throttle pedal there are 3 switches, an idle validation switch and 2 position sensors (potentiometers), If one is out of range or not in sync it will set a code. If the pcm doesnt know you want to go, why will it! It will just idle. And this may not be the problem, but it sounds like it. Oh yeah, it comes as a pedal assembly.
