I posted about a problem I am having (see 97 - Strange Problems with Engine and Tranny - Help!) in this section.
A lot of people are saying that this could be the speed sensor on the diffrential making the tranny shift hard. How do I replace the speed sensor? Detailed directions or a diagram would be much help.

the speed sensor on the diff only does the abs. the one on the tailshaft housing from the transmission or transfer case control how and when it shifts.
what exactly is it doing? is the transmission slipping between shifts and then jerking into gear?
Kyle, I just replaced one of my speed sensors today - it was pretty easy. it's kinda sitting on top of the cone on the end of the transfer case facing the rear of the truck. there's a single 10mm bolt (or was it 9?) facing outwards that i couldn't see but i could feel and it was pretty easy comin out. take the bolt out, unplug the end of the sensor (this you can see) and then pull it out of whatever it's stuck in (this end you can't see). mine came out with a little bit of a tug. there will be a plastic gear looking thing stuck to the end that you'll have to take off the old sensor and put on the new sensor.
now, there are supposed to be two of these sensors, if you figure out where the other one is let me know.........
