I've got a 1999 Ranger. It is a 3.0 V-6 with the automatic transmision. The speedometer won't work until you reach about 35 MPH, and the transmision won't shift until the speedometer starts working. Also, the ABS light has come on. I'm an old man (66 years old) and if it ain't got points and condensors, I'm lost. I'm thinking it's the speed sensor in the rear end, but I need some ideas.. Any help is greatly appreciated!
If it is the VSS (variable speed sensor/ abs sensor) it is mounted in the rear diff housing. Replace your diff fuild and the sensor. Easy job and it should clear it all up.
