I have ordered a 1.5" tough country add-a-leaf front suspension from JC Whitney. I ordered it for my V10 gas engine and they are incorrectly sending me the diesel kit. What is the difference and a shouldn't I be able to just add this one. I didn't want to buy new shocks or any other modifications?
Thanks for any help
Cool, I ordered a 2.5" rough country leveling kit today from JC Whitney. Hope they don't mess up my order. You should be able to use the diesel spring, but it will probably be much stiffer than the the gas engine spring, which will result in a little higher than 1.5" and probably stiffer ride. I could be wrong, but that's what I think....
Yup.^ If you really only wanted a 1 1\2in. then you wanted the gas springs, the diesel add-a-leafs are stiffer to, I would want the diesel add-a-leafs, but I like the front of the truck stiff and tall.
Put a 1.5" Tuff Country in my 02' F350 and it worked great. No other modifications needed... The shocks are long enough and the track bar keeps the alignment where it belongs.
Just traded in the 02' for a 05' F350 dually Lariat. Unbelieveable truck....
from what ive heard the diesel and V-10 are similar in weight so the springs would be the same, the gas V-8 engine is lighter and would use a different spring for the same results.
Smitty, I was thinking about the same the you did to you 02. Did it still sit a little lower in the front or was it level. Also wondering if the X-code front springs from FMC will do about the same thing?
I have a X-springed F-350 and the rear is still 1 1\4in. higher then the front, truck is a reg. cab 5.4 though. If you have a non-X-springed truck you would be better off with add-a-leafs... Only bad part is that mine already rides rough, can't ponder what a add-a-leaf with a lot of arch would ride like, just something to think about.
I must be lucky, there is a spring shop a few miles from me ,that works on Big trucks all the time. I take a truck there ,tell the guy how much I want to carry, how high I want the truck to sit and ride, and in an hour I'm leaving all set. the job is better, safer, and probably only a little more expensive.I like to play with my trucks but spring work is tooooo much work for me Phil
