thermostat in my ford explorer 1996 is not registering. I have replaced the thermostat sender still not working no leaks or holes in hoses. not overheating. please help
I have a "?" what do you mean your thermostats not registering? also thermostat sender?
maybe im not understanding your "?" tell it again. do you mean your temp. gauge it not reading properly, and you have already replace your temp. sending unit.?
Yes if you remove the sender wire and ground the wire the gauge will go to hot if the gauge is good ,even if the gauge gos to hot why replace the t/stat, Hinlsey if your truck is not reading hot and its not running hot ? whats wronge ? which my "?" gos back to my 1st. "?" might need more INFO.
p/s i might note that if your temp. gauge is "not" reading and you ground the sender wire and it gos to hot i would try replaceing to sending unit.

Yeah, more info from Hinsley would be nice. He did say in his post, that he replaced the sending unit, so if the gauge goes to hot when the wire is grounded, all thats left is a bad T-Stat.
BTW, i'm guessing that the problem is the gauge isnt moving.
