The "Next" Lightning...

I just saw on the Ford website today the next Ford Lightning, and all i can say is wow! I have been a Chevy guy my whole life until 6 months ago when i bought my 2002 F-150. I sold my 2000 Trans Am because of high mileage and people kept running into me at red lights. If Ford really does build it with 500 hp, Chevy might as well pack up and cancel Christmas because they have nothing for it. They did away with the beloved Camaro and Trans Am, brought back a GTO that weighs too much and is blah in styling, and their trucks looks like they are 15 years old. The interior still reminds me of our 1975 Suburban we had when i was a kid. Ford has got it together and GM doesn't have a clue..

Yeah, well the NEXT Lightning isn't going to be made. They cancelled it and it won't be back until 2008, if at all! I am very mad. Take a look over in the Lightning forum down a bit and read about it there.

Really now, that's interesting a chevy guy switching to ford. Mostly its the other way around. But hey that's cool.

No lightning? Well that sucks but you still could make a look-alike. Supercharge the 5.4L, headers and duals, and a set of rims, and you'd be all set. Mind you, you'd have to do the suspension and that's costly..

If you want a 500 hp truck you will have to look to Dodge.

Wink

The only thing bad about the SRT Ram it ways over 7000 pounds. One thing i always liked about dodge is thay put a V8 in a dakota. I would by a ranger if it came with a 4.6 Ford getting lazy with the F150 i was going to buy a new F150 with a 5.4 even with the discount it looking around $28.000 For just a work truck. The last good F150 ended in 96 AND BRING BACK THE (302).

why not just build your own? Shortbox stepside and a blower. I just bought a '97 which somebody spent alot of time and money on making it into a lightning. It was that way in '97 when ford didn't make a lightning. BTW, if you've ever pulled a 4.6L with a kenne bell you know how bad it sucks!!!

I think that the Dodge you are getting the 7000 pounds is the 4 door version.The two door is around 5300 pounds.

Sorry I'm 3 weeks late on this...........but where do you get your skewed info?

The reg cab SRT is around 5000 lbs and the Club Cab is about 500 pounds more.

Do you know the difference between curb weight and gross vehicle weight?

And no, your Lightning clone with stock 302 will not outrun a regular cab 1/2 ton hemi.

I'll try;

1st line;....."he saw a red sport truck while looking at guys, we can think what we want but it did happen"

2nd line;....."something about a year ago there were 100,000 hemi badges on fenders within a mile."

3rd line;....."His friend in Austin has a hearing problem because of his overly loud Z71 that beat him on the head while the guy that sold him his Lightning beat him up."

How'd I do ?????
