[FONT=Arial]5 PM last night. Walkin thru the field and saw a head and antlers. First shot dropped him, second shot killed him. 10 point buck, field dressed out to about 190-200 lbs. He's a BIG BOY! Went from standing in the field at 5 to being in 4 coolers at 10 PM. Gonna get him mounted, too. Went out last year and took a shot and missed and was wanting SOOO BAD to get another opportunity to get one this year, and now I did! Yea, I sound like I'm 15, but I'm 26 and giddy as a schoolgirl!
Congratulations. There is nothing like the feeling you get when you've dropped your first buck. (unless it's that feeling you get with your first piece )
KT - thank you, I was just thinkin Bucky. But then again, if we named him Dolly, he may be getting mounted more than once..And congrats on your recent developments! That's truly awesome news!
Bronc- yep, M38 at about 75-80 yards, I shot three times and hit him 3 times, and surprised I did I was shakin so bad...dang buck fever...
Nice Buck . I got my first dear this year too but I am 14. got A doe shot it one time whith A 308 Winchester I was standing in A tree stand she was 40 yards away.they are good eating .
He was stalking not sitting... This buck actually surprised him...
he judged it to be 30 yards so he drew and aimed for 30 yrds...
well the deer was actually 26 yrds. the first shot severed the spine....the buck stops here (thought I would add that for a laugh) with a second shot to put it out of its misery. When he got this to the truck the rifle hunters were in awe and jealous.....
Oh yeah
This is in the laguna Mountains just outside San Diego.......
Thats a nice whitetail. I got a pretty good 5X5 whitetail last year, but yours looks like it has a taller and heavier rack. Thats a good deer, especially for your first deer.
I have only filled my doe tag so far this year. A hunter that comes to our ranch usually buys my tags, but he did not end up getting the "any deer" tags and he ended up with whitetail tags, so I got to see a bunch good mule deer standing broad side within range and I could not do much about it. I guess that my dad has "any deer" landowner tags, but he used up the buck tag.
Nice deer, Momudder. Here's a tip for future reference. Before you take a picture (of a dead deer or such) poke the tongue back in the mouth. I makes a much better looking picture, especially if it's going to be published or displayed.
