Calling all computer experts

I have rebooted at least 30 times.
All that does is bring up the Scandisk because Windows wasn't shut down properly.
Scanning ...it gets to the 29 % mark and states this file is is either corrupted or is too long for scandisk to handle.
Really, I have tried everything my brain can thing of without being successful.
I can't sit there through 1.23 Gig of files changing the name of each & every one ...one file at a time.
I have yet to try through DOS due to my lack of DOS self-education.
Now I am just waiting for a conformation for the go ahead to do the DOS thing
My computer is getting slower all the time.
