1. Clean off the block skirt really nicely where the seals will go.
2. Install the seals dry on the cap, and tap on them with a small hammer. The end of the seal, where it touches the block, should be flush with the bearing end of the cap. Add just the ever-so-slightest dab of silicone to each of the seals on the ends.
3. Very lightly oil or assembly lube the lengths of the seals, making sure not to get oil on the new silicone. This will help the main bearing cap and seal assembly slide into the block.
4. Gently tap the bearing cap and seals into the block, alternating between cap and seals if the seals don't want to go with the cap.
5. Once you're bottomed out, use a small pin punch and press in on the seal stubs, making sure the seals are tight to the block. (You might be able to see silicone squeeze out of the backside of the block if you have access.)
6. If there's excess seal and you're sure it's up against the block, cut off the remaining seal flush with the block skirt & cap; if there's not enough, add some silicone until it's flush.
7. If there are steel pins included, drive them into the hollow portions of the seal at this time. Hopefully they don't protrude; if they do, use a cold chisel to make them flush with the block skirt/cap.
That's how I did mine, but if there are other directions included in the set, follow them in THEIR order. AND it's been awhile for me, so I THINK that's right, but I'm not 100% sure.

1. It lets 'em go in easier, and
2. It when you put the nail in 'em it squishes some of the RTV out and seals it up very well.
