Hope someone can shed some light on my dilema,I just traded my 2002 f350 cc drw sb 7.3 4.10 gears 4wd with 60 hp chip , for exactly the same truck for 2005.I pull a 14000# fith wheel And was hoping the stock 2005 would pull as good as the chiped 2002 , But so far have been very disapointed, the 2005 has no topend power . Am I missing something Or is this just the way it is.I have 2000 miles on new truck. I am sure missing the old 7.3 thanks for any wisdom
As a previous 7.3 owner, I do not miss my 7.3L....just my 2 nickles worth. Maybe a visit to your dealer is in store, or pull your floor matt back from under your throttle.
The 2005 seems stronger from 0 to 60 ,then falls on face over that.It will not gain speed in overdrive on the slightest hill ,and seems to shift down twice on big hills while losing speed
i think you are missing the extra torgue provided by the chip. the 6.0 is strong but it cannot compete with a 7.3 plus a couple hundred ft.lbs. an aftermarket tuner will probably fill your void and then some. but you must admit, the handling and turning radius are simply fantastic on the 2005. add a little more torque and i think you'll be a very happy camper.
good luck
Yes there some nice changes on the 2005 the brake control is awsome and the transmission is very smooth , Just wish it would stay in overdrive and pull hard. The chip only added 100 foot lbs and 60 hp making the two trucks very similar . Chipped 2002 310 hp 620 footlbs, 2005 325hp 570 ftlbs
I think you might have a slightly sic one, now no worry it could be something very simple...I have towed next to 7.3 and the 6.0 just leaves them above 35mph...I pull a big trailer...see gallery...
