ford remote start

Does anyone have Ford's remote start with turbo timer. How much are they going for?, how's the range? Is it warranty-wise, worth it to have them install it? I pick up my 350 cc lb ps on Thursday, and was wondering if I'd be better off with an aftermarket. I have one on my 200 v-10 now, and don't know what I'd do with out it.

I had the same decision when I bought my '04 F350 in May. I ended up going with an Autopage RS-850LCD and had it installed by a local shop. I couldn't be happier. It's a remote start, remote door lock and alarm, and cost a lot less than getting all those options from Ford. It has great range (I think they advertise something like a quarter mile, but that's without any obstructions). I can start my truck from inside my office building with the truck about 500 feet away. The device has two way communications, so you get on screen verification that the truck started OK. A neat feature is you can check the temperature in the truck using the remote, and you can also program it to start and run for a short while if the temperature in the truck gets higher or lower than a pre-set limit. Even thought the remote has a lot of features, it's pretty small - which was very important to me.
Good luck!
