Can anyone tell me how to get the computer module box out of a 2000 Exc. I've taken the plastic retainer box off and don't know how to get the plug off to gain access to the metal box. Is there a interlock or some kind of latch that needs to be released ???? Also when I chance the chip is it advisable to disconnect the power source (battery) before I perform this procedure ????
[QUOTE=Monsta]The electrical connector should have a bolt on it. Remove that bolt and the PCM should slide out of retainer.
Thanks for the reply...Is the bolt on the top or the bottom. Or do I just need to feel for it ? Problem is access is very limited, but I'll search around and see if I can locate.....
Look at the computer box. If there is a module sticking out of the computer service port, its chipped. Another way to tell if its been chipped (or tuned with a handheld) is to read codes and look for a P0603 code.
