c-6s the same?

does anyone know if a 73 t-bird c-6 is the same as a 78 f150 c-6? they are both 460 c-6s.

Yes and No. The case's will be mostly identical. There is a possible difference on the internals tho... one may have more discs in the clutch baskets than the other. If you are thinking swap tho, yes they should just swap right out.

Smoke and tires : If the truck is a 2X4 they are the same . If the truck is a 4X4 it will not fit,too long , not just the out put shaft but the whole tranny .

If you use the '73 trans make sure it has the bolt provisions around the shifter for the neutral safety / reverse light switch. You will need the case switch for your '78. Some don't have these provisions.

Park Neutral Switch .

Mark: The C-6 I just put in my '78 was a pre-switch model so instead of doing the conversion thing I patched into the wires at the plug on the harness and installed a toggle switch on the dash which will accomodate both park and neutral if the proper wires are tied together . Quick Fix as noone else drives my Ford .
