Dana 60 front compatibility
Hey guys. My buddy is telling me to look at an '87 F250 4x4 donor truck for a Dana 60 front. Will this work? My project is a '75 F250 crewcab 4x4. I've got the low pinion 60 with drum brakes. If not what front 60's are compatible? Only the 78,79? I'm looking for disc brakes and high pinion.

Make sure you dont get anything that is pre-77 due to the fact that all of those axles were only 30 spline 60s. A 78-79 or 86-88 D60 out of a F350 are the "desirable" axles because they are reverse-cut and I am not sure but I think they are disks.

An '87 F250 should have a Dana 50 TTB (independent) axle, not a Dana 60 straight axle. F350's '86/'87-'97 have high-pinion (reverse-cut) Dana 60's. '87-'91 have kingpins and are most desirable. '92-'97 have ball joints. They both have disc brakes.
