Sleepy arm

I have had my left arm going to sleep for several years and then my left leg started doing it to a lesser degree.
I went to the Dr. Thinking I might have heart blockage or something. They sent me to a neurologist and he did about 5 grand worth of MRI's and stuff.
His conclusion is that I have a disc in my neck pushing against an artery .
Good news is that my arteries are in great shape.
That comment about ALS (Lou Gehrig's Disease) got my attntion. I don't think I could take something like that not being able to move or swallow.
