Question 94 F-150 Problems

We're looking at purchasing a 94 F-150 XLT Extended Cab 2WD pickup. I was curious if there is anything in particular to look for when we try it out and inspect it. It has the 5.0L engine and automatic transmission. I do know about the oil pans rusting out and I've already looked at that. the pan has been replaced with a new one.
What else do I need to look for on this truck? Any and all input is greatly appreciated.

Make sure it runs good. The Check Engine, Airbag, and the ABS light should both come on when you turn the key on I beleive. If they don't then have them replaced to make sure they're not indicating problems. If the engine runs good w/no leaks and the tranny shifts smooth with no leaks and good fluid color then all that remains is rust related. Specific areas would be gas tank(s) and tank straps. Rear leafspring mountings, brake lines & brake hardware (drums/rotors, calipers springs...)
if you salt out there you can expect some rust around the rear wheel fenderwell and behind the doors where the extended cab side transitions to the underside. Those are the most common body rust areas I've notoced.

Anyone else want to chime in?

Otherwise my 94 been one excellent vehicle !! I highly recommend one!!

Thanks for the info. This truck has absolutely no rust anywhere. I've been underneath it and it amazes me the condition of this vehicle. The rockers are like new as are the doors, cab corners, bedsides, you name it.

Where in Upstate New York are ya from?

Thanks for the input. I test drove the truck today and put quite a few miles on it. Only had one malfunction when I shut it off. It wouldn't start again. No click, nothing. After a couple of attempts the truck started right up like it was supposed to. I'm wondering if it isn't the ignition cylinder or possibly the starter.

I also noticed the steering seemed kinda sloppy when I was driving. The wheel seemed to have a bit of side-to-side play on the road. What might be the cause of this? Is this normal?

Other than that, the truck drove awesome and handled like a dream. I looked underneath and there is absolutely no rust whatsoever on the components that have been mentioned here. No rust anywhere for that matter. I'm still dumbfounded by that.
It needs a very good cleaning and deodorizing in the interior, but other than that it's ready to go. Everything works on the truck and it runs 100%. They were firm on the price though, but to me it's worth it. I didn't even try to haggle with him too much.
I should be driving it this time next week if everything goes the way we've got it planned. I'll keep y'all posted.

Thanks Again.
