I want to put a T-19 behind a 460. Does the T-19 use the same bellhousing as The NP-435? Do all T-19's have the same ratio? If not, where would I find a ratio/ID list? Thanks, Bob
I think you mean a T-18 the T-19 was used behind the 6.9 diesel which is a close ratio transmission probably not the best for a 460. I had a T-18 behind a 460 it survived fine.
The T-18 was used on light duty trucks and has a "granny" gear. The T-19 was used on HD vehicles like busses, delivery trucks etc. The T-19 still has a low ratio gear but it is synchronized and is not considered a "granny" gear. The T-18 is started in 2nd gear for normal driving. The T-19 is started in first for normal driving. There were a number of gear ratios used for different applications. All of them are fairly similar. The T-18 and T-19 were both used in many applications by several manufacturers. For normal driving you would probably want the close ratio version. For rock crawling you might want the other. The 460 will pull great with the close ratio version.

The T-19 is standard equipment as installed by Ford on my '85 F250 460.
First is granny. With the torque of the 460, you can always start off in second except when it's cold and you need to keep the air velocity through the carb up, then you should use first. Oh, also use it when you need to shove a freight train out of the way.
By the way, nobody answered my question about the bearing size on the T-19: 20mm or 23mm. Anybody know?
