I am suprising my wife and son with tickets to Trans-Siberian Orchestra's Christmas show at the Birmingham Civic Center.
The show is Monday night (11-15-04).
Has anyone ever seen them before? If so, what did you think?
I am anxious to see the show. I really enjoy things like that and look forward to seeing great music that - from what I have read and seen on the WEB - is as much art as it is music.
I have seen Blue Man Group 5 times. If TSO is half as good as BMG, we are in for a treat!
Thanks.
I have not seen them, but I have seen many of the members (Savatage) in concert before. They are all very talented musicians, so I am sure the show will not dissapoint.
The wife and I saw TSO last year, the day after Christmas. All I can say about the evening is FANTASTIC!!!!
I'm a 42 year old guy who remembers when concerts were a happening. Seeing YES in the round, Genisis with Gabriel etc. Light shows and lasers just added to the experience. Trans Siberian Orchestra are some exceptional muscians. The music is top notch, the theatrics fit, lasers and lights abound. Oh yeah, the music is great. Do you get the impression that I liked what I saw/heard.
Go to the show and sit back and enjoy! If you are into Heavy Metal guitar chords mixed with strings and horns, mixed with synthesizers and Drums (think Bonham and Neil Peart!!) You'll love it.
Hey Reever,
Thanks! I am sure I'll love it.
(OBTW, I too am 42, so I can relate to the things and names you mentioned. Electric Light Orchestra concert comes to mind)
On a side note: if YOU ever get the chance, see the Blue Man Group. You would love it.
I'm jealous....I wanna go see them
I'm 43 and I think that TSO is awesome lol
We've got one of their DVDs and I just got their latest album last week.
For anyone that hasn't heard them you can listen to some samples at http://www.trans-siberian.com/multimedia/index.shtml
What a show!
Those are some talented folks.
The music was outstanding! The lights, lasers, etc. were equally impressive.
Given the chance, I WILL see them again.
I'll now have to stop by the music store and see what CDs and/or DVD's I can find.
One of the local Philly radio stations started Christmas music already. Driving home tonight, flipping thru the stations I hit "The too da*n early" Christmas music station. Of course what come on but "Christmas in Sarajevo". "Carol of the Bells" never, ever sounded so good! I can't wait for the concert!
