Can anyone tell me what the alignment specs for a 86 f250 4x4 are? Camber, caster and toe. I had my truck aligned at tires plus and they said they couldn't get a good reading on the camber because of the 6" lift kit so they did not adjust it.
According to the sheet they gave me it showed
left camber 1.4 degrees right camber 0.0 degrees
left caster 4.3 degrees right camber 4.4 degrees
left toe 0.01 degrees right toe 0.03 degrees
As info I replaced all the tie rods before the alignment.
There really are no factory specs.Ford gives a set of #'s for different ride heights. Can vary from -1 to 4+ camber and 2-6 degrees caster.According to what they gave you on print out,It's really not to bad.I would drop left camber in to about 1/2-3/4 degree and set toe-in to 0-1/16".
hello, i m wondering what kind front axle u re running there? on yr 86? i have a '81 with 6 inch lift but with a solid axkle up front but the driver side sticks way too far... i havent moved the axle back in but i m still working on it cuz the factory leaf spring seats are on it so i m trying figure out what i ll need to do , make and weld my own seat perches for the leaf spring , yes i have all 4 leaf spring all around , i m kind of puzzled cuz i thought dana 44 or 60 are all "bolt right in" in the front..
I am not postive whether I have a dana 44 or 50.5. The tag is missing. I replaced all three u-joints and all the seals this summer with dana 44 parts everything seemed to fit except the grease seal on the back side of the hubs. I had to take a round file and remove about .035 from the center hole to get seal to fit on the axle.
Anyway, I believe I have a dana 44 with ifs in the front and a sterling 10.25 semi-floater in the rear. Leaf springs all around.
I know this a very old thread & I am certainly NOT an alignment expert BUT... Based on the question asked, I would think the CORRECT answer or Response should be....
1. Is your vehicle driving straight or is it pulling left or right?
2. Are your tires showing a wear pattern that would indicate an incorrect Camber setting?
3. I'm not sure what "couldn't get a good reading on the Camber" means. You state that ...
"According to the sheet they gave me showed the left camber 1.4 degrees right camber 0.0 degrees".
That seems to be a "Reading". Why it's not a good reading I would like an explanation of ?
The final answer is Don't change anything unless or until you are having some sort of a problem! (Pulling R or L. Tires wearing improperly.)
I'm not sure what the "Factory Specs." are but I am CERTAIN there ARE Factory Specs. for the Stock OEM suspension/wheels/springs/tires...I'm NOT sure if those are the same numbers you are supposed to try to shoot for when you do lift kits. (seems they would be). BUT I think once you get into any modifications to the OEM Engineering you are going to have to do a little experimenting to see what numbers (Caster/Camber/Toe) produces the desired effect.
