The Banks,Currency Exchange Houses will have absolutely NOTHING to do with them at all.
I was able to convince one coin collector out of several in Calgary(pop.900,000 people)to exchange my 7 x $1.00 U.S. coins for $7.00 in U.S. paper money.
Which btw, is on its way to Ken & Peggy towards my FTE membership.
The banks would take it on Par with Canadian Money though<
My response" I guess you would at a 60% gain "

I remember Canada. It was cold. That's all I remember. From when I lived in International Falls, MN. Which is practically Canada. How's the skeeters during the summer where you are? They were:-staun in Minn. in the summer. Don't care to go back. Humidity was nice tho. At least you could sweat and not drench your clothes. Had fun up there. You ever been down south? Or at least to the states?
Cold ?
Not here where I live(not for very long anyway)Calgary.
We get Chinooks(something like the Santa Anas)from the mountains.
The temperature can change 30 degrees in an with-in hour(both directions BTW)
Been to the States:
previous to 1972> Numerous times to Idaho,& Washington State
1973-Alaska
1980-Montana,Idaho,Wyoming,Colorado,Utah,Nevada,Arizona ,California,
Oregon,Washington State,
1998/1999/2001 - New York State

It is the canadian GOLD MAPLE LEAF:
Because the Royal Canadian Mint is so well known and respected, Maple Leaf Bullion Coins are bought and sold around the world. Every Maple Leaf coin is guaranteed by the Government of Canada for weight and purity.
Made of 99.99% pure gold, Gold Maple Leaf coins come in five sizes ranging from 1 oz. to 1/20 oz. The Royal Canadian Mint was the first world mint to commercially produce 99.99% pure gold. This innovation gave the Gold Maple Leaf instant recognition when it was introduced to the bullion coin market years ago, and it remains the most well recognized and sought after bullion coin in the market today.
-Le Premiere is valued at $325 - $350 US currency.
It is a remarkable coin, for the purity alone. And the intrinsic "portableness" of it's value....
I'm not a coin expert but at the moment, It doesn't sound like they would be worth anything above face value. They could turn out to be someday, so I would hold on to them. :-)
