Well I'm building my first and last garage. 30x40 six inch slab drain in the center 12" o/c rebar in floor heat. 12 foot ceiling, 12 wide x 10 high door r 17. with remote of course.. Tankless radient heater. Serious lites maybe T5's
windows. 100 amp service, bathroom, Steel I beam across the center rated for 10k pounds. Floor trusses above for apt some day so no posts.
I have all four walls up and today went to put up the 30'x 24" floor trusses and they are screwed up. Boy am I choked..I have to get this thing done cause of the cold weather...The trusses are parallelagrams not rectangles. one of them is 3/4 out in 24 inches..,20 out of 26 are not square I'm burnt.
12 foot high doesnt leave much room for a lift =)

They are supposed to pick em up monday and bring em back to the factory and fix em and get em back weds...hope so its getting to 10 deg at night here, I'm not crazy about my new slab in that cold.
brrrrrrr and I thought the 40's was cold here at night in Phoenix!
2 day turnaround is very good even if they made the mistakes!
if the slab has been down 21 days or more, you shouldnt have too many problems

It's hard at first. Goodluck with your floor/slab. Mine is supposed to set up with very few problems... except that the concrete goes thru a 28 day curing course. It is important that your concrete does not freeze during this time!
99f350sd I see your enjoying the north east cold to. Just finished turkey day dinner and its 18f here .ive done some 4x4 trails in glover vt before mud snow ice this time of year. Shop plans sound great !! Over the years many times trusses have came wrong from the factory . Seems like the the boys were a little sloppy with their cut lists at the plant. The turnaround for the repair is excelent though. I once had to wait 4 wks for 3 trusses to be replaced from a screw up. You might consider a 200 amp service for the building .when you get the 2nd floor done for living space you will want a 100 amp subfeed to power it . just a thought Just started my new shop 24x 40 clear span w/24x26 right angle ell for a washing bay / paint bay.what a time to start it .
I got back from turkey day down in Milford CT. Way cold up here. Burrrr.
no go on the 200 amp I have 200 at the house with a double meter can. I have 500 ft of 250 MCM feeding the can and another 200' or so of 4/0 feeding the garage. So I have to plug in another meter and I'm off. I think I'll be fine. I'll bet I could pull 200 off it if need be. All the wire is underground so they are very nuts about going big enough.
I just picked up my panels at HDepot and gonna try to get power this week and insul and heat....yahooooo
Yup I'm roofed and covered and had to go with the 200 amp box cause 4/0 wire won't fit in a 100 amp box..more juice for me. Overhead door comming next week. I have it tarped right now and bought a reddy heater today to keep the garage at 40 deg. Got a new sander for my truck so I was in the garage hookin that up. I hope tom my buddy will come over and spray the insulation, foam that is..all this while I'm building a house down the street for grandma...don't have the deck on yet maybe tomorrow.
Oh Rich that garage just about killed me 14 foot high walls working on ladders to do plywood and then the deck above cause its gonna be an apt next year, this almost 50 year old body is holding together but I feel it in my bones..I can still out work the 20 year old son Shhhhhh.
Oh yea I'm ordering my new compressor tomorrow 25 cfm at 90 19 at 175 psi
Really nice three cylinder online great price too. Still looking for a 3 ton hoist 220v single phase..I've got the trolley installed on the beam already.
