Hi everybody. I have a new F-250 that didn't come with a hitch installed. The dealer gave me a new (factory) hitch that was a take-off for free. I didn't want to wait to install so I'm planning to do it this weekend. My question is, does anyone know what the torque is for the factory bolts? Also, is Helm the best place to obtain the service manual? Thanks for any help.
Hmmm... I've never seen torque ratings for the hitch bolts listed before. I just put them on TIGHT (using an 18" breaker bar), but not so tight that they strip...

SoCal , there's a torque rating for every bolt/nut out there , they're just not followed most of the time . But like ya say , pull em' up nice and tight with a "bar" ( make sure you use lock washers , Locktight wouldn't hurt either ) and you should be good to go .
So far they are right and yes there is a specified torque for every spec and size of bolt. If you must torque use 80-100 ftlbs for 1/2 inch (3/4 head). This was the spec for mine when I installed mine.
Thanks all, the factory bolts are pre-coated with Loctite. In addition, they are Metric (I'm not sure the exact size but larger than SAE 1/2"). The nuts are "captured" in a steel plate so they don't require a wrench to hold from the top. I put them on TIGHT with a 24" Snap-On breaker bar, the bolts are huge so it would be hard to strip them even with that large of a bar. Took all of 30 mins. start to finish.
