Warn Premium Hub Install
HI,I HAVE A 78 BRONCO WITH A DANA44...STARTED TO INSTALL A SET OF WARN HUBS P/N 20990 (PREMIUM SET) AND HAVE 2 QUESTIONS ABOUT THEM..1st IS THE LARGER CONE LOOKING SPRING SUPPOSED TO GO BACK IN?
AND 2nd THE INSTRUCTIONS SAID SOMETHING ABOUT THE RETAIN CLIP WILL NOT BE INSTALLED ON THAT YEAR FORD TRUCK...DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT...

warren hubs
I changed my Ford hubs to Warren when the Ford wore out and I used no parts from the old set except the axle clips that hold the new hubs in .
However the '78 Bronco and the F150 came with two different sets of hubs .
One type,the problem ones, had a outside nylon cam that pushed the gears
forward to lock and the other were spring loaded and locked themself when the locks were turned . The Bronco were the ones that had most of these cam type which wore out with very little heavy use .
The axle spline are the same for both and will accomodate either type . Can't beat those Warrens though,they have been great for years .
