proportioning valve

What is the plastic piece that screws into the top of the proportioning valve (pressure differential valve) that has the plug-in on top of it? Mine is leaking, the threads are stripped and rotted and I was wondering if I could just put a bolt in there to replace it. What do the wires control? Mine is from a '79 F-150.

It is the sender for the brake warning light that comes on in your dash when you leak fluid.
