I apologize if this is a stupid question but I am a new diesel owner. I am getting a Water in fuel reading on my truck. I am on the third tank of fuel for this vehicle. It is a new 2005. How frequently does this happen? Is the fuel bad? How do you remedy this?

Also you could run a fuel additive, like Stanadyne Performance Formula...it will help.
Have you drained the separator yourself?
And never a stupid question, it is how we all learn...so ask away
How do you know you got 100cc and how many tanks have you run through it,
do you buy always at the same place,
is it a new station,
..... do they go through a lot of fuel at that station.
Inquiring minds want to know?
I got the 100cc number from the manual. I haven't actually drained it yet. I have put 4 tanks of fuel in this truck (still working on the 4th) I have used two different stations because prices here can range from 214 to 239 i go with the least expensive.
A side note...I have installed a banks six gun and exhaust with an AFE intake. Would that have any impact on this? I am wondering if I should just bring it back to stock. Expecially after reading some of these threads about transmissions and such. I am not a hot rodder. I am looking to get a little more performance and benifit from the fuel economy. I am kinda getting freaked out. I hope i didn't make a mistake by putting aftermarket stuff on my new truck
Well before you go any further, drain it.......I will bet a donut hole or sled load of nuts, you do not have even close to that....read the tech folder real good ask any question you have and then go for it....let us know if you need any help...

You shouldn't be getting water in fuel on a new vehicle with only 3 tanks through it. I would take it to the dealership and have them check the system.
As a side note...I don't know how mod friendly your dealership is, but you may want to call around or ask someone on this board which dealership in VA will not hassle you with what you have on your truck....Whatever you do don't just bring it in to any dealership with the BANKs and AFE installed...or you run the risk of being flagged in OASIS...which will affect your warantee. If you cannot find a MOD friendly dealership, take the 6-gun and Intake out...then put it back in when they fix your truck. Do you know if you still have your CAT when your exhaust was installed? I only ask this question because you could be hassled about that as well. Just so you know deleting the CAT would not cause water in fuel.

Would have nothing to do with it. Theres either something wrong with your fuel system or something else is tripping your water in fuel light. Might want to contact whoever installed your mods and have them re-check all the connections to make sure there is no weak connections that could cause erratic signals to be sent to your computer.

He is not saying he has water in it...only the indacator says he does they have been incorrect before, that is why he needs to drain it and then talk with the dealer if needed...we hope
Ok..here is the scoop. It turns out that the Six Gun is not powered which may be why this light is coming on. It may also be why I am not feeling any additional power from the six gun...
I called a local dealer/installer and he is having the exact same problem...I will keep you posted.
Seems like a lot of mods for a "new" 2005 and your not a hot rodder?? With the additional power Ford put in the 2005's it may have been OK to leave it alone for the first few miles; at least until your oil change. I hope you do have a "friendly dealer" Good Luck
Thanks for the words of engouragement Jimmy. i was asking for advise not criticism.
Anyway, I spoke to another installer/dealer locally and he said that he is having the same problem with his six gun not getting power.
As for the mods...the reason I did what I did is because I travel between 14 and 16K a year on long trips for hunting and competiton. I need the fuel economy that these modifications say that you get. If I find that they do not provide me with what I am looking for I will take the truck back to stock.

Sounds like an installation issue. I have heard that the QUAD 160 has similar issues depending on the truck its installed on. The unit was not getting enough power to run. Never heard of BANKs doing this though.
