Have a 92 4x4 with automatic transmission. Tranny went bad about 2500 miles ago. Replaced it with a rebuilt transmission and now have the exact same problems again. Seems to work fine for a while (100 - 200 miles) then spits fluid out the dipstick until it is so low that the tranny slips and eventually won't move. When I get it to eventually take fluid again (instead of puking) then everything seems fine for a while until fluid starts coming out the dipstick again. Also, fluid was moving from the tranny to the engine, but that stopped after replacing the vacuum modulator (strangest thing I ever heard of).
Why would it spit fluid out the dipstick (I'm careful not to over fill it)? Why would this only occur intermittently? Why would this happen with two different transmissions?
The check engine light does come on occasionally, but I haven't been able to pull the codes yet.
