I'm just curious, but with the right modifications, how fast would F-250/350 diesel be? I just reading some other forums on unsuspecting import cars being being beaten by Ford Super Duty trucks. I imagine that all that torque would help the Super Duties accelerate faster.
My '03 F-250 turned 16.0 s stock in the 1/4 and 14.33 s with the SCMT Hi Performance program installed. The truck was otherwise stock.
60 foot time was 1.9 s on the 14.33 s run. This is for a truck that weighs 7650 lb with a full tank of fuel and me in the cab.
So I have a question Daryl, my F250 CC PSD FX4 has a registered curb weight of 6900 lbs. You are saying that yours weighs 7650 wet with you in it. How much does 22 gal of fuel weigh????
I weigh 210 and had about 30 lb of misc stuff in the cab so that drops the trucks weight down to 7410 lb.
Diesel fuel has a specific gravity of between 0.81 and 0.96 with #2 diesel being closer to the 0.81 value and #5 diesel being closer to the 0.96 value. Fresh water has a specific gravity of 1.0 and has a weight of 62.4 lb/ft^3 (8.342 lb/gal).
0.81 * 8.342 lb/gal = 6.757 lb/gal for #2 diesel.
22 gal * 6.757 lb/gal = 148.648 lb.
And for grins, 0.96 * 8.342 lb/gal = 8.008 lb/gal for #5 diesel and 22 gal * 8.008 lb/gal = 176.176 lb.
I had my truck topped off to the tip of the filler neck when I weighed it and had at least 32 gallons of fuel in there based on past experience.
So 32 gal * 6.757 lb/gal = 216.216 lb.
This gets us down to 7410 - 216.216 = 7193.784 lb.
Take out the batteries and the motor oil, drail the radiator, tranny, differential, transfer case, and let the air out of the tires and what ever other tricks they do for dry weight and you'd be getting closer to the 6900 lb but still above it I think.
my f250 regular cab 4x4 as pictured below weights in at around 6900 depending on how much fuel is in it. This is the weight after I unload the scrap metal and the scrap yard. So I'd imagine a crewcab would weight much more than this, so I'm not going to question darylhunter's 7650 number. If I find one of my old invioce I can scan it if you'd like me to.
