I took my truck into the dealership because it was stalling when I used the brake to kick off the cruise control. It is also sluggish and has a pause on acceleration. Well they did some stuff to it that I don't understand. My V.I.N. if (SNIP) if you guys can look it up.
Now it is idling fast and is way louder when idling, plus my high idle doesn't work when it's warming up.
What can I tell the monkeys at the dealership to fix/undo, etc.
They simply reflashed the truck with an updated program.
As for the louder idle, I don't have a good explanation for this, because the truck never had pilot injection to begin with. The only thing that crosses my mind would be a different EGR manipulation technique, and there is nothing to be done about that.
As for the idle kicker, this function was deleted as Ford deemed it useless in helping warm up the truck- IMO, it causes more wear than it causes warmup. If you want this back, you will have to install an AIC (auxillary idle controller) and control it manually yourself.
Once the truck is flashed, as far as FMC is concerned, there is no going back...
Thanks for answering my questions Now at least I wont sound dumb coming in and complaining about the high idle being gone. I really liked it in the cold climate I live in, especially since I don't have a garage, it did warm up the truck quicker.
I took out an 05 King Ranch today...........got the old mind wondering again
