C6 Downshifts
Is it me or is there a way to fix the way a Ford tranny down shifts? I have to come to almost a complete stop or stand on the gas to down shift on turns to another road. Or manually shift it into 2nd. Is it a vacuum problem or something else. The strainer and the modulator valve are both new. The vacuum is hooked up to the rear of the intake manifold. Is it normal or is it me?

I dont know alot about transmissions, but with mine, i dont have the kickdown lever, which goes from the carb to the tranny. This kicks you down a gear when you are passing, throwing you into a passing gear, dont know if you have it or not...mine is good to downshift on its own till about 2500 rpm, just off vaccum, did you get the same color stripe modulator valve? sure you dont have a leak in the vaccum line? just some ideas, sure you thought of them..

Yes on the color stripe on the modulator valve. It has done this since I have had the truck, several years. When I have a dry day off I am going to do a total vacuum check. I have bought a hand held vac. pump several weeks back and plan on toying around with it and see what I can find or not find.
