I Own A 96 7.3 Powerstroke 4x4 With The Overdrive Automatic Tranny. I Fried The Tranny When I Got Stuck In A Pretty Big Mud Hole While Hunting. I've Rebuilt The Tranny, Replaced The Computer Silonoid Pack, The Mlps, And The Brain For The Truck. It Still Will Not Shift Out Of First Gear. I've Been Told That When The Key Is Turned To The On Position The Check Engine Light Should Stay On Until The Truck Is Running. Even With The New Brain, As Soon As The Key Is Turned To The On Positin The Check Engine Light Flashes Once And Stays Off. I've Been Pumping Money Into This Truck For The Last 3 Months And I Still Can't Drive It. If Anybody Can Help Me I Would Be Greatful.
You say you replaced the "brain of the truck", do you mean the Powertrain Control Module under the hood? If so what was the reason for the replacement.
yeah replacing that is no reason for unless you have a reason but what youve explained says no. umm, there is a fuse for those trannies, that will make it shift out of first, also make other things work. This problem ive ran into before check it out
I Checked The Fuse Pannel And I'm Not Getting Power To A Couple Of The Small Fuses, And The Fuses Arn't Labled. To Answer The Question About The Brain. We Hooked It Up To A Diagnostic Computer And It Said That The Computer Was Bad. But When The Diagnostic Computer Is Hooked Up To Override The Truck, It'll Shift.
