We're a Two Excursion Family!!
After riding around in my wife's 2004 Excursion (she traded her 15 passenger Ford Van in on it), I decided that my next vehicle was going to be an Excursion also. Well the day came earlier than I expected...this past weekend I rolled my 2001 Jeep Grand Chrokee, totalling it. So a trip to my local Ford dealer and now we are a two Excursion family! We have two 2004 Ford Excursions - one blue, one green, and we both love our respective rides!
How did you roll your jeep?
congrats on your new purchase....

And congrats ! My wife is slowing trying to take over the X --- she says she likes being able to see over most of the traffic

(And I've had a few Jeeps that didn't get better mpg than my X !!!! and one got a lot worse )
In answer to "the question" I rolled my Jeep as I drove to work last Saturday (Nov 6th). I was travelling down the highway and an 18-wheeler ahead of me was blowing up a bunch of snow (it snowed the night before). Well hidden in the snow was a pickup towing a snow machine trailer with no lights. As I closed in on the semi, I caught a glimpse of the truck and trailer just as I was about to climb onto it. I hit the brakes and the ride began! I ended up in the ditch on the other side of the road, 100 ft down the embankment, on my passenger side. I wasn't hurt thankfully, but the Jeep was toast!
As for the gas question, I am doing pretty good in that regard. I drive about 160 miles a week to and from work and the rest of the time it's just putting around town. So it's not bad -as jdadamsjr said, there are a lot of vehicles that get worse gas mileage than the X! Like the E350 15 passenger van my wife had before her Excursion...it had a V10 engine and a garden hose for a fuel line! LOL! What a gas hog that van was!
I had to reply since I am beginning to get those tell-tale signs that my wife likes My "X" a bit too much..
She has gone from never driving it, to chosing it for little errands.. and finds reasons to "need" the X more often... Winter is almost here and with the snow we get in West NY she may grow to like the 4x4 to the point that I'll have to fight her for it.. She hates parking the thing and is also the frugral one of the team. She drives a Saturn
4-door and likes it for mileage and handling.... so I still have the advantage....
If she trys to take over, I may have to withhold sex until she gives it back.. <now, why do I already know that wont work>

Well my wife was a bit hesitant about her X also...she loved her van but with a V10 engine it got terrible gas mileage. And since it was the family "RV" it didn't work well. Once she got the Excursion (it was the next smallest vehicle - we likes our space!) and got to see how nice 4wd is in the winter, she doesn't want anything else!
Of course I love 4wd and won't drive anything without it...but I am the commuter in the family so I need all the advantage over these Alaskan winters I can get!
