Heater Control Has No Lights

my 93 ranger has no heater control lights . why ? bulbs out or panel dead ?

also my heat blow high speed only ??? resitor or motor ?

my 93 ranger has no lighting for the heater controls either, i was wondering the same thing, i think its probably just a bulb, but i dont no

The high only problem is probably the resistor. It should be located next to the blower motor on the heater plenum. When you take it off, there will be (I think) three wire coils and more than likely one of them has burned or come unattached. I have soldered these before and it works ok but it's worth checking into a new one. The lengths are not critical, so you can trim them and it will still work or splice a short piece of wire if it is too short. Make sure you use the same guage wire. If the resistor checks out ok, it is either in the switch or the wiring. An ohmmeter should tell you where the problem is located by probing the resistor connection to ground at each pin and corresponding switch position. Make sure the key is off or the battery is disconnected. The bulb for the heater control is probably burned out. Check it first.
