I am new to this board and I have a few questions about Rangers. I am considering purchasing a 4.0L Ranger. I have driven a couple of newish Rangers and liked them. Nice to drive, reasonably powerful and handy. My questions are: what year did they change body styles to the new body stle? They used the TTB suspension I know. What year did they change to the current IFS setup? Does anyone have any opinions of strength of either system (which is stronger)? And I think they all came with 8.8 rear axles right? I would also like to hear comments about lifting both types of suspensions. I would be lifting this truck for trail use and would like to make sure that the driveline will handle 33s (35s?) with 4.10 gears. Thanks again for your input.
Hello!! In 93 they used the new body style. The ifs is a better but more expensive to lift way to go. I have a liftes 93. I love it. One day I think i'll put solid axles on it though!! Oh, get a 4.0 only!! If you can, and want to, get a man trans as well. Less to go wrong.
