This is a great site! I have a 99 ranger xlt 4x4 3.0 flex fuel. I have been trying to save money by doing all the maintenance work myself. of course everytime I fix something , something else has to be repaired! when does it stop? I had new tires put on and I was told I need ball joints. Thy showed me the ball joints and there is alot of play, but I don't know if I should replace the uppers too. I was thinking as long as I was doing the lowers I might as well do the uppers too. Also when I accelerate from a dead stop the truck jolts I hope it's not the tranny. any suggestions?
OK I started to take the ball joints off and I'm not sure what has to come off to replace the uppers and lowers on a 99 ranger xlt 4x4. I got as far as the hub. Does that have to come off? any help would be great! I have the Haynes manual but it doen't help much. I was going to give up and have a shop do it but he said it would cost $300 just for labor. NO WAY! Ken00 said there is a tech info thread on this topic where is this thread?
