Puting a supercab on a highboy
I would like to put a supercab on my 1975 highboy. I found a donor at the local junkyard. I'm going to shorten the bed to make it fit. I know the highboy frames are narrower, but the mounts on the cab should be the same right? Other than moving the rear mounts back a foot or two it should fit. Any encouraging thoughts or advice would be greatly appreciated

If I remember correctly, the front cab mounts have the same spacing, but the rear cab mount holes are drilled differently between a wide frame and narrow frame. I thought the difference was 77 and older (hiboy) were narrow frame, and 77-1/2 and newer were wide frame. BUT then a friend bought a 1979 F350 2wd camper special and it had a narrow frame!!! Only thing I could imagine is Ford used the same frame for an F350 dually, so the frame was narrower to clear the inner dual tires. The other concern is I think a SuperCab frame dips down for a longer distance before it kicks back up to the box. This is for floor clearance, otherwise the floor of the cab would be higher in the rear???

Jim is correct... you will have to space your fordor cab up higher, or body lift the front and not the back. when you get the cab get the mounts off the frame of the yard truck too, then you can attach them to your 4x4 frame. the 4 door truck should be the same width all the way back to the rear of its cab as yours. they dont get fat untill after the cab on the 2wd and newer wide rear 4xs.
