Just got my 02 F250 back from the dealer where I bought it used a month and a half ago. About 3 weeks after buying it started leaking ps fluid. It was just a little at first but quickly turned to about a 3 inch spot on the driveway in the morning. I am almost sure this was a pre existing problem and think it should have been fixed before they even put it on the lot. It has 20,000 miles and is still under the bumper to bumper wrty. Anyways, after bringing it in they got me in right away and loaned me a 04 taurus to thrash on while they fixed it. They replaced the whole steering box, however the truck still makes a loud thump from pass side wheel well when backing up while turning. The service manager said they all make that noise, even the brand new trucks on the lot.
Sorry for the long post ,just wanted to vent my frustration about this problem
Truck is 02 F250 4x4 PSD supercab 20,000 miles
This same exact problem happed to my dads brand new Dodge 2500
Oops,I meant he had the same steering box issue as my F250 ,but his leaked from day 1, my problem was at 20,000 miles. The service guys said the thump I am hearing is some kind of flapper valve involving the vacuum???
Not sure what the noise is but it sounds like someone hits the floorboard with a hammer
