ford esp- worth it?

does anybody have input as to fords own premium care esps and are they worth it? ..any experiences good or bad? ive just been quoted $1350 or $71 month for extra 2 years and 24,000 miles..or 5yrs 60k total on a (02 f-150 4x4 v-6 )..this plan looks almost like bumper-bumper protection and supposedly cancellable or transferrable if you sell ... thanx in advance

Is there a deductible?? If so ,then I would say no. It also depends on how much you plan to drive this truck. Is the truck already out of factory warranty?? If so, then maybe. If not, it has been my experience that they sell these things to make a huge profit, and they are sometimes hard to use anywhere except where you bought it from. In any case, if at all possible, I would try not to finance it in any way possible. That is the worst way to buy extended coverage, try to pay for it in cash if possible.

But that's just my $.02.

In my opinion, there is no such thing as a warranty. In fact, I think that this word does not even belong in the dictionary. Since I've got my truck, or any other vehicle for that matter, I have never had a warranty. Every time I try to take a vehicle in for service, they find a way to weasle out of covering anything. Even if you tint your windows or pinstripe your truck, they'll make a stink about that.

IMO, I wouldn't pay 1 cent for an extended warranty. Read the fine print on that policy, they have a way of backing out of everything for any little reason. Read the fine print first.

I think it's really up to you. It depends on if you think you'll need it, how you use your truck, and like tom said, if you are a pinstripe and tint kind of person, or if you are a stocker like greg ****er type o' guy.

My girlfriend's mom gets the extended warranty on their cars (hondas) and when something like a power window motor goes awry, they are covered and free of worries. My 2000, which is now barely over 4 years old, has never had an issue. I've had the break pads replaced twice, and one rotor replaced in over 65k miles.

Also, if it gives you peace of mind, the go for it. But make sure you know all the different angles and aspects of the ESP. Know what it will cover and what will void it. I NEVER, EVER EVER EVER get warranties because I can be a cheap SOB sometimes. But back in august when I bought a $2500 laptop, you bet your sweet little tushy I got the 3 year extended warranty and 3 year accidental coverage. Now if I even DROP my laptop within 3 years I have no worries except for downtime.

So really, the choice is yours. Go forth and ponder. And when you return, may you be blessed with a million midgets playing harps and blowing their horns in rejoice, for your decision hath been madeth.
