This has just started happening. I have a '88, F150, Lariat XLT, 302 w/ EFI. The truck starts and runs fine in the morning, or after sitting for a couple of hours. However, after about fifteen minutes and warming up, it starts to miss. Not like a fuel problem, both tanks and pumps have been replaced. More like an ignition problem, like a loose wire or something. I thought the coil was breaking down, so I replaced it. Same problem. Had everything checked about 3000 miles ago (plugs, wires, codes, etc.) everything was fine. I'm stumped. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks.
Welcome to FTE. Have you got any trouble codes? Check engine light on? Might have some trouble code in memery. Change the fuel filter with a Motorcraft, not Fram! Go to www.fordfuelinjection.com under getting trouble codes on the right side ? of the page. New web page. Do you have two fuel tanks does it do it for both tanks?
Yup, two new tanks, pumps and filter, does it on both tanks. It seems more and more that it may be the TFI from what I've been reading. It acts more like an electrical problem than a fuel one. Seems only to affect the truck when it warms up. Thoughts? Thanks.
Check the trouble codes its worth the little time it takes. Plus you will get more replies. The first thing FTE members what to know is what are the trouble code numbers.
