Hi, I have a 2004 Screw and I am looking for a bed cover. It needs to be lockable, lightweight and somewhat watertight. I have narrowed it down to either a undercover or a foldacover. Anybody with pro's and con's on each and which one do you have or would buy???
I'm going to get one pretty soon - before holiday traveling. I've pretty much narrowed it down to the undercover because its light enough to be taken off by my hubby and me and it looks okay, lockable, etc. The picture showing all those people standing on it looks impressive. I think some of the paintable ones look prettier but they are heavier, and I'm thinking they are not really mean't to be taken off at a whims notice.
I got the Advance 2-panel folding cover on my Screw. Both panels lock, and it's 99% watertight. To remove, all you need to do is loosen 2 bolts along the middle hinge and pick it right up. I like it so far and would buy one again in the future.
Do you have any pics of the folding cover. I had been looking at them as well but haven't seen any good pic of the 2panel on a SCREW (mostly 4 panels on Reg cabs).
Thanks for the info. Looks great! Did you do the install of the Advanced cover yourself? Is, how long did it take and how involved is it.. Looks like it would be straight forwards.
Out of curiosity, did you get it through www.kcovers.com or someone else? Did you look at the fold-a-cover as well?
Magna-flow dual tip side exit exhaust looks awesome!
^yes I installed it myself in an hour or so. Basically you install the weatherseal on top of your bed rails (The cover has weatherseal already on its edges, so you get twice the protection). you then install the angle brackets on the inside of your bed/rail. The cover latches on these brackets when closed. Very straight forward.
This is the only cover I considered, although I like the concept of the retractable covers, but was not impressed with the quality of the RollnLock cover I had on my last truck. That thing rattle alot, the vinyl top was starting to fade after only 2 years, and it would leak water around the tailgate area (due to its design).
I got my Advance cover here, it was the cheapest price w/shipping I found at the time and also they ship it by UPS ground. Other places wanted to ship it by Freight truck which gets more expensive, or usually want it shipped to a business address.
