A few questions about going to a solid flywheel

A few questions about going to a solid flywheel

I have a 95 f-250 and just found out that my dual mass flywheel is bad, and being a broke tech school student I dont have any money and I was thinking I could get a used solid flywheel out of a 94-97 F-450 if I could find one and switch it over. now my question is would I have to get the pressure plate and clutch disk with it or would the pressure plate and clutch disk that I have on the dual mass flywheel work with the solid one. I know that it would be best to get the whole luk package but I cannot swing that much $$$ right now. thanx guys

I believe that you will have to change the clutch and pressure plate when you convert to a solid flywheel. They are different.

How about the whole setup out of a wreck, flywheel, pressure plate and disc? Just make sure it's not all rusted out from sitting in the rain.

The clutch disc for the DMF dosen't have any dampner springs so you'd have to get the whole set-up out of one like kwik suggested.

Yea that is what i was thinking of doing, getting one out of a truck at a salvage yard. I was told by a knowledgable person that the clutches in the F-450 were solid. I plan on making a 2800 mile trip next week and if I dont get it fixed will that cause any problems. It doesent seem to vibrate when I am cruising. I just wonder if it will start to take out the rear main bearing. Thanx guys
