I feel I need to update my choices:
Big Blocks
Ford - 427, hands down
GM - 396 & COPO 427
Mopar - 383 & 426

Small Blocks
Ford - 289
GM - 302 & 327
Mopar - 318

Diesels
Ford - 2.3L & 7.3L
Mopar - 5.9
Chevy - none of them

But technically, diesels are in a different category, because nobody makes their own diesel engine. 7.3 - International. 5.9 Cummins. Duramax - Isuzu. I don't know about the 6.5's and 6.2's though

The 6.2 diesel chevy is good while in my experience of owning one in my suburban.

GM: 292 I6, 350, 400
Ford: 351M, and W, 460
Dodge:360 and 426 hemi. personal favorite out of the three.

My dad has a 67 satilite with 30k origonal miles was his grandma's car was grauged for the last 25 years it is NICE is it has a Mopar 383 BB it is a shorter stroked 440 as my dad told me and he's a mopar freek

The 5.7 was the only real chevy diesel. I belive that 6.2 and the 6.5 were made by detroit diesel(or so I have heard I am not sure).

yeah the 6.2/6.5 are made by Detroit or more Detroit based. I would have to say:
Big CID:
Ford: 429/460
Pontiac: 455
Mopar: 440 6 pack

Small CID:
Ford: 351
GM: 350
Mopar: 360

Diesel:
Ford: 6.9IDI, 7.3 PSD, & 6.0PSD Those are the only diesels i like besides the cummins 98-02.

I doin't like any modern engine beside the Triton V-10.

383 mopar has always been a big block.It is like a 302 compared to a 351, lower deck height.

Ford: 87-up 5.0L HO GT40 spec with roller tappet cam and EFI.

Mopar: 426 Hemi.

GM: The originally designed by Buick 3.8 (3800 cc, 231cid) liter pushrod V6.

If I had to be stuck with one engine for the rest of my natural life. Id take the ford 300.
For a diesel. I would take the 7.2 cat. Too bad I cant get it in a f250.
