truck will not start
Ok guys this is what I got. 2001 Ps 105000 miles, went out this morning turn ignition on to wait for light got a phone call in side and went in to take call,left ignition on. Came back out about 10 15 min.turn key truck dead. Turned key off tryed again to make sure dead,and no start.Turned key off but truck was still trying to turn over real slow.Pulled key from ignition got out still trying to turn over,looked and belt and fan trying to turn over. Did stop nin.or two. Put jumpers on it and tryed to start but just turned over and would not fire.Whats up? wile I got you here installed gauges late Aug. every thing works ok but every once in awhile pyro freeks out spends around or gos dead then works fine for days maybe weeks then freeks again. ground short? thanks guys

Here's a possibility: When you left the key on, the glow plug relay stayed latched, thus killing the batteries. When you tried to start it again, the starter solenoid got hot and the contacts stuck together. Then while using the jumper cables, the batteries took enough charge to crank the engine, but not enough to keep the voltage over 9v while cranking so as to allow the IDM to fire the injectors.
I'd try putting a good charge in the batteries as a first attempt at a remedy. Let us know if this works.

Probably not, but you might end up with a failed glow plug or two if the relay really did stick. You may want to put a meter on the relay and see if it is is unlatching after a few minutes of the ignition being on, or when started.
These engines can sound like they are cranking just fine, but still refuse to start if the voltage drops below 9v.
