Mustang

Hey everyone I have been looking for a mustang to buy. Right now with gas prices i cannot afford to drive long distances in my 79 f 150. So i have decided to get a car. Right now I am looking for a mustang. I want a mustang that is from around 90-95. I wish i could get a newer model but the average price i do not think i could spend right now. I live in South Dakota and so far i have found it fairly tough to find a decent v8 mustang in a reasonable price range around here. I have found some nice ones but they are very very far away. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good place to check or anyone that was selling a late model mustang around the midwestern area of the US. I have checked many many online areas and have had no luck. I have also heard about police auctions and reposesed cars but i was wondering if there are any of these auctions in south dakota or the surrounding states. Any info or help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Where in SD are you? I have a mustang, and keep pretty good track on everything. Denver seems to be realisticly (sp) priced, and decent shape, but some have been exposed to salt ect. The KC area seems to have more of them to choose from and such. But I would figure out what you want first. The 94-95 GT is a decent starting poiint, but the fox-body is cheaper, and cheaper to mod. More aftermarket pieces available used, and even cheaper new. If you want just a commuter that isn't modded, I would suggest a 96-98 GT, step up to the 4.6 for fuel economy. Some people say they are doggy, but I don't think they are bad for what they are, and a PI head swap and you are in business. Tell us what you want, and I can point you from there.

I am in south central South Dakota. I am fairly close to the Nebraska border. I would like to stay with the 302 and i like the styling of the 94-95 over the fox body mustangs. I plan on stroking it to a 331 eventually. I do not want to put a supercharger or turbo on it right now so i think that the 302 would be a good choice for what I want. I have found one for a decent price but it didnt list mileage or have a picture so I am waiting for a reply back with that information. Also if i had to choice between a 5 speed manual and an automatic I would like a manual but it is not that important. It is not going to just be a commuter but i plan on taking it on my longer drives. I do plan on modding it slowly as i get the money to.

One thing I have found is that they do make some pretty nice body kits for the fox body mustangs. I never really thought about that. Yet another option

94-95 should be a good start, The body-kits=puke, unless it is going to the cobra conversion ect. IMO. If you can afford one, a 94-95 Cobra would be a great start, better brakes, and interior, better looking front facia, and cheap easily available mods. It would def. be worth it to pony up and get the cobra. If you are intersted, and are looking for more info on them, I am a "vetern" member at an SVT site, I can give you the addy if you would like.

I would love to have a cobra but I do not have the money for one unfortunately. I wish i did. Right now i think im gonna take a 94-95 gt and do some motor work on it as i get the money slowly and do a little work on the appearance even though i think they look good stock. Some day I will have a cobra. It just won't be in the near future lol. The closest thing to cobra i will own in the future is a gt that i put a cobra emblem on lol.

I would seriously cover the classified ads and forum ads, they are starting to get cheap. I bet a higher mileage (around 100k) for 6500 or less, pretty easily. Cheaper if you look around. I have found alot of instances where the older cobras, especially the 94-95 have been the same price, or even cheaper. Don't just go slap a cobra badge on, at least do the front facia before hand, and some mods to help back the cobra namesake up.

I was joking about the cobra emblem. If i ever stuck one on anything id make sure it looked exactly like one and could beat a stock one for the hell of it lol. I have been looking in ads and what not but it is hard to find decent ones anywhere near south dakota. I have found nice ones down in florida though. lol. Under 6500 is my price range i think so if ya find any in the midwest somewhere and could give me the heads up plz do it will be appreciated.
