04 telescoping mirror

04 telescoping mirror
Well it was bound to happen on these narrow back roads, coming up to a narrow bridge, you can just barely fit two trucks on, i'm approaching this bridge and i see the oncoming truck just barreling, it looked like he was doing 40 to 50 mph, i move over as far as i can to the right and stop, before the bridge, and bingo this idiot clips my mirror, he's going so fast that he can't stop for 200'.
I walked back to his vehicle, and he hit so hard that his mirror broke his driver's side window.
Off course he denies speeding, he claims he was doing 30, but i know better than that. The guy behind me stopped and backed me up that this guy was going way to fast, nice guy, he gave me his information and told me he would be my witness.
My question is, How much does it cost to replace this mirror, i have an 04 SD with telescoping heated mirrors, marker and turn signal.

BTW he was driving a dodge ram.

If you were stopped when this happened, there shouldn't be any question as to who was at fault. It looks as though list price on the mirror is about $175 or so, from what I can tell online.

Wow, that's going to be an ugly can of worms. Did you report it to the police, get his insurance info or anything. If you plan to have this guy compensate you it may be tough.

On edit, when typing 2004 F350 SD, it came up with some options, but it doesn't say anything about the turn/marker lights. Not sure if it will work. May want to call and see if it does.

got a quote from the dealer, 337+tax installed, i do have his info, and i also have a witness, it could have been a lot worse, considering the speed he was traveling, i'm pretty sure is insurance wiil pay

Did he damage your paint?I did noticed that the window is getting scratched from mirror fragements, and that's also going into the estimate along with after market tint.
as far as being calm, i had my kids in the truck, and i've been learning that you get a lot more accomplished by being calm

dsweger, I cracked my amber lens on about the 4th day of owning my '04 truck by backing out of the garage. You can get a replacement part (I don't know the part#) for just the back cover when includes the side marker light. I got mine from the dealer; it cost about $89.

Same thing happened to me, only I had no witnesses. Insurance said it's driver versus driver and dropped it. The other guy cut a curve too close, and had I been any farther to my right I'd have smacked a phone pole. He was speeding, but had a passenger, so I was cooked. I just hope next time he doesn't wipe out a minivan full of kids.

At this time, it isn't $89.00 worth of cracked yet.....
It's hardly noticeable and I don't think it is leaking any water into the mirror assembly, So I'll wait until I get the side of the garage door again.......
