yesterday i put my cam in my manafoild and carb in yesterday... i pulled everyhing off the front of the motor off and replaced everthing there was no thermastat so i put a 160 degrees and changed the water pump and everyting all the hoes's and then put everything back together so anaways come to the point i ajusted the carb and then took it for a run down the street and it started smelling like anit freeze and it started smoken from the vent lol i said ohh **** lol then the anit freeze came out on the passenger side and i saw it was the heater core thing so... the questoin is where can i get a new one or can i get it rebuilt or what do i do for this??? and where do i find a radiator to buy that just bolts in??? thanks every one for the help stephen... ohh yea its in a 1966 f100
You should be able to get it at your local parts store. I think they used the same core for many years and in several vehicles...They aren' too expensive, maybe $20.
i called napa and discount auto parts and they say that they dont have none... what other veihicles are they out of??? and we are talking about the one thats under the dash right?hey gtex i bought the rpm cam it has like 572 lift and i have a 428 i also bought the rpm manfoild and a 650 double pumper i got it runing and the cam is pretty big but the motor was rebuilt and it runs alsome but i was wondern what u have done to your motor?and what gears are u runing but if u could what list the cars that i can get the heater core's for my truck thanks man.... stephen
Well, I did a quick search of the internet and didn't find one listed for a 66 F100, I can't imaging that it's different form the 67-72, and I bought a new one...can't recall where.
You can probably get it repaired at a radiator shop.
I got a replacement for $20 from Napa. The darn thing was gushing like niagra falls and it smelled real bad in the cab. Something to consider, there is 2 heater hoses that hook too the heater core which supply the coolant to it, often these will leak becasue they get loose, to solve this I coated the first 2 inches or so of heater hose with RTV and tightened the hose clamps REAL tight. It worked, my heater core actually turned out to not be leaking, it was my hoses werent tight enough, wasted my money. Anyway take it out and check the hoses first before replacing it.
