fuel filter wont budge, help!

fuel filter wont budge, help!

replaced the fuel filter on my 01 expi with the fuel filter tool, it popped right off, literally took me 2 minutes to change it. I went to change my father's on his 00 F-150, same exact fuel filter, located in same place, using the same tool, and that thing wont budge. I notice his looks a lot rustier than mine did, is it possible the sprint loaded clips in the fuel line are rusted? When you insert the tool into the fuel line, you can usually feel the clips pop open, releasing the filter... I insert the tool and dont feel anything, no matter how hard push the tool into the clip, nothing, that thing wont budge. any ideas? should i spray something in there in hopes of freeing it up? anyone had this prob?

Mook, the only thing I could suggest is to give PB Blaster a try.

Mine was the same way, but not rusted at all. I had to push the fuel line onto the tool while pushing the tool into the fuel line in order to open the springs up. Hope this helps.

I'm sure you are but make sure your using the right end of the tool. I know it sounds silly but if you have one of the muti tools you could have it backwords. Been there done that......
