Hello,
I have a friend who has a 1940 Ford truck and has just purchased a recked Mustang and wanted to know if it was possible to take the engine and the transsmision out of the Mustang and put it in his Ford truck. If you could let me know as soon as possible that would be great. Thx.
anything is possible dependin on your ability and knowlage and availability to the proper tools if its an old stang (still carberated)shouldnt be so hard some companys make universal mouts and crossmembers i know lmc has them good luck and have fun
Sure can put the Mustang motor into the 40 truck. There's even kits available to make the mounting easier. We used the 302 & 4 speed tranny from a Mustang donor for our project. Check out my gallery for some ideas.
If you're not sure what engine the Mach 1 has, count the bolts on one valve cover. That will get us in the right engine series at least. Also be sure to specify V8 or V6.
Before anybody throws something, I had a '75 M II Mach 1 with the mighty 1.7L V6.
