Hey Guys,
I Have An 04 Expedition 2wd Eddie Bauer, the Ride Is At Best Stiff The Dealership Has Told Me There Is Nothing They Can Do.i Have Contenental Con Titrac Tires. Does Any One Have Any Suggestions
Thanks
Lee
Finally, someone who also thinks the new Expedition rides like a brick. My 2000 was really smooth, even though it handled like a tank. There doesn't seem to be any forgiveness in the new Expy. I recently rode in a friends new 2004 4X4 Super Crew F150 Lariat. It rode like a Cadillac. I replaced the Contis with Michelin Cross Terrains which I keep at 32 psi. It didn't help much. I have also researched aftermarket shocks (coilover) with no luck. Eibach variable rate springs are also a consideration, but I have heard mixed reviews regarding the plushness of the ride. I would like to hear of any remedies out there. At this point I have a serious case of buyers remorse.
i thought i was the only one out there that felt the04 was rough. i go back to the dealership for the 4th time thursday they say they can take care of the PROBLEM
LET YOU KNOW
I had a 97, 99, 2000 and now a 2004 Expy and the 2004 rides the best.
Even my better half commented on how much smoother the ride is.
I also got rid of the OEM Conti tires and put Michelin Cross Terrains on it and they're vibration free and smooooth as can be all the way over 95MPH. (no kidding)
I had a stock 00 XLT, no upgrades to the suspension, etc... My 04 is far and away so much smoother. Not saying you guys are wrong, it can be just a matter of opinion.
Or maybe there might be commonality in the build date and/or where it was built? No recommendations on my side.
It's strange there are such different opinions about the ride. It makes me wonder if the vehicles do vary one to another. If there are any other opinions out there, let us know. Also, if anyone was at the Sema show, they may be able to share information about a different suspension set-up that would allow a plusher ride.
Not really enough info to be certain, but it appears that many of the ride complaints are coming from those who own the EB version. Those of us with "XLTs" seem to be happy. Perhaps there is something specific about the EB that affects ride quality?

The 99, 2000, and 2004 were all Eddie Baurers and the 2004 still is the best so far.
I have 2004 XLT Sport with 2WD. I'm waiting until someone comes out with a replacement shock (perhaps with less psi) than the stock shocks. I hope that will cushion the ride and make it more enjoyable.
