Hey guys, My friend got a early 70s ford ranch wagon dumped on him and it has 390 emblems, it looks like an FE block. I was wondering who can decode the vin for me.

This thing atleast had the 390 in it orignally, cause the emblems were all original, it looks like the motor is all original, the mounts have never been changed and half the bolts too the mounts are covered in many years of crap.
Oh there are 5 bolts holding the valve covers on.
Mabe the vin is wrong for this car?
5 bolts means it is at least a fe engine if you want to know if it is the original engine i will nead the casting number of the passanger side of the block under the number one cylinder on the block it should be d7 at least it should start with that the vin also indicates a 79 which is also odd

Thanks.
I would say, based on you evaluation, a 390 is a pretty good bet. Of course you can do a stroke check on the motor or check in with the gang here http://www.network54.com/Forum/74182 they are pretty good with the car stuff...
